The Journey of the Apprentice >> Return

Each of the below components represent their respective "families".
To do an exercise, label and make one scent strip (1-10% dilution) for each family. Choose any component within the family, depending on what you have!
Sit quietly, relax, and compare each family. You will learn to recognize
the characteristics of each family, and how the individual components fit in.

As you become familiar with each family and component, take notes on your impressions. The goal is both to learn about each scent and how it fits into its family. When you are quite familar with the families, then work within a single family
comparing the members with each other, getting to know them as individual scents as you add to your collection.
With practice, you will start to be able to recognize these components
when they appear in a blend.
